AIJ Urges Judiciary Chief to Speak Out on Press Issues

TEHRAN -- The Association of Iranian Journalists (AIJ), in an open letter to Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Seyed Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, deplored the remarks made in a recent letter from the head of the Tehran Justice Department to the Judiciary chief saying it was full of irresponsible accusations against the media.

The association said the letter by Abbas-Ali Alizadeh was devoid of any legal and scientific basis, adding The letter is full of political posturing and innuendos against the press.''

It called on the head of the Judiciary to air his views with regard to the contents of the Tehran Justice Department's statements.
